King County Metro had 236 of these dual-power articulated buses, and converted 59 of them to electric-only operation. They originally had a Detroit Diesel 6V92TA diesel engine powering the rear axle, as well as the AEG/Westinghouse electric motors powering the middle axle. The duality allowed them to run through the Downtown Transit Tunnel on electric power and continue in diesel mode elsewhere.
