Edmonton Transit System - Test Run to Beaumont, AB

   • On August 21, 2003, ETS ran a test run to Beaumont, AB.  People were able to board free of charge.  An ETS bus has never been run out of city limits for commuter service.  The bus made stops downtown, at Mill Woods Town Centre, and in front of the IGA in Beaumont.  The first bus out for this test run, ETS 4279, had a number of messages on its destination sign at first.  They were: 98 Downtown, Welcome Aboard, New Commuter Service, Starting September 2003.  The bus stopped and was shut down for 20 minutes beside the IGA Garden Market in Beaumont.  The next bus out was 4278.  When the bus arrived back in Edmonton, it had 98 Beaumont on its destination sign.  The route 98 will be available as a pilot project from September 2003 to February 2004.  If demand is high enough, the service may continue regularly.
